The ExxonMobil Brand Asset Center (BAC) is used by ExxonMobil's various distributors that need to find and use the various brand assets created and managed by ExxonMobil (NYSE:XOM). The BAC helps ensure a consistent execution of ExxonMobil's various brands; distributors go to one central repository where they can access and download any asset that they need.

Assets can fall into one of any number of categories from Marketing Materials to Advertising to Packaging, etc. The physical assets themselves can be any file type - EPS, AI, PDF, PNG, MOV, etc.

Users of the site first select a master brand, such as Mobil1 or Mobil Delvac. They then use an asset browser, which was built in Adobe Flex, to navigate through the hierarchy of assets in order to find the exact asset they require.

All the brand assets and their relationships are managed through a content management system available exclusively to administrators of the site.

Beveridge Seay and Oddmachine were our partners on this project and were in charge of project management and the visual design of the site.

Other Functionality

The Brand Asset Center streamlines a number of other operations:

  • Guideline PDF's are automatically generated when an brand asset is updated. A Guideline PDF describes (in text) how a particular brand asset is supposed to be used.
  • Download Packages can be generated automatically. A Download Package is a ZIP file containing a number of brand assets that share a specific hierarchy. Distributors can download a Download Package for all Advertising Elements in the Mobil1 brand, for example.
  • The Flex-based asset browser can be embedded in different environments. It is currently embedded within ExxonMobil's intranet.
