Since early 2007 Kennedy Krieger Institute (KKI) has used SmartLogic as an outsourced R&D department. We've built prototypes to allow KKI to assess the viability of introducing several new technologies (Adobe AIR, iPhone, Javascript libraries like Prototype/Scriptaculous) into their existing infrastructure.
The Kidney Paired Donation (KPD) team at Johns Hopkins Hospital reached out to SmartLogic in the summer of 2005. We built a sophisticated simulation framework for matching incompatible patient and kidney donor pairs with others to allow a greater percentage of patients to receive kidney transplants, i.e. save more lives. This framework runs on a network of 16 CPU's. We continue to work with KPD to institute a nationwide kidney matching program for the United Network of Organ Sharing (UNOS).
After an unsuccessful bout with offshore developers, Health e-Lunch Kids (HELK) engaged SmartLogic to rebuild its custom online ordering system. We implemented a comprehensive back-end system that automates a great deal of HELK's administrative processes. SpotCrime's extensive database of crime data has grown a few orders of magnitude and visitors to its site have also grown by leaps and bounds. For simplifyMD, SmartLogic provided additional development capacity to a distributed team of developers (some in the US, some offshore). Amongst other things, we built a module for accepting incoming faxes and a protected WebDAV interface that enforced authorization at the application layer. Read more...
