Ignite Baltimore

In 2008 Mike and Patti approached us about creating the Ignite Baltimore website. In 2009, we brought Ignite DC, Ignite Annapolis and Ignite RailsConf online using the same system. Props to Glenn for his hard work on the site.

About Ignite: Five minutes, 20 slides. What would you say? At every Ignite, 16 artists, technologists, thinkers, and personalities take the stage to answer this challenge. Our goal is to spark new conversations and collaborations across cultures and disciplines.

Kiva.org

Starting in 2009, SmartLogic has provided micro-loans to entrepreneurs via Kiva.org. Kiva is the world's first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend to unique entrepreneurs around the globe. In 2009 we provided $900 in loans to entrepreneurs in third-world countries. Visit SmartLogic's team lending page on Kiva.

Charitable Causes

Every year we ask each of our employees to select a non-profit organization to which they'd like the company to donate some money. In addition to these funds, we also offer to match a certain amount of employees' contributions to a non-profit of their choice.

Charitable Causes we Supported in 2009

Nick, Adam and SmartLogic support the Maryland Food Bank.

The Maryland Food Bank, an affiliate of Feeding America, was founded in 1979 to coordinate the procurement and distribution of food donations from manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and government agencies to organizations providing free food to the state's hungry.

The Christopher B. Elser Memorial Fund

Greg and SmartLogic support The Christopher B. Elser Memorial Fund.

In April 2004, Christopher B. Elser, a college junior, was attacked by an intruder in his fraternity house at the Johns Hopkins University. Chris later passed away in the cardiac unit of the Maryland Heart Center from the wounds he sustained. This horrific and tragic event robbed Chris's family and friends of one of the most magnetic, outgoing, kind and joyful presences in their lives. Chris was an athlete, a leader, a brother, son and friend to all. In order to preserve the memory of his spirit, several of his friends with the support of the Elser family have founded the Christopher B. Elser Memorial Fund.

The fund will support programs that offer youth constructive outlets within their community.

WYPR

Yair and SmartLogic support WYPR.

WYPR is Baltimore's NPR affiliate. Serving the metropolitan Baltimore area and the state of Maryland, the mission of Your Public Radio is to broadcast programs of intellectual integrity and cultural merit which enrich the minds and spirits of our listeners and ultimately strengthen the communities we serve.
